Summer Youth Theatre

It’s Back!!! After two years of being closed for Covid, we are back! Summer Youth Theatre! This year the show is Disney’s “Frozen”. It is open to children ages 5-18. Registration fee is $50 and is due May 14 at 8am at the West Valley High School Choir room where everyone will sign up. All children will have a part in the play and will perform in both performances. The rehearsals will be 8am to Noon, Monday through Friday,  starting June 20. June 20 to July 1 rehearsals will be held at West Valley High School’s theatre. July 5-8 rehearsals will move to the Ramona Bowl, but still 8am to Noon. Performances are July 11 and 12 at 6pm.

Additional fees:  There is a $45 costume rental fee, this can be paid by selling extra ads and sponsors. Every student sells $65 in ads and sponsors that appear in the memory book for the show. If a student sells $110 in ads and sponsors their costume fee is covered. Ads and sponsors range from $5 for a sponsor’s name to $150 for a full page ad. The memory book is a full color booklet that includes the ads but also has cast bios, pictures and fun facts about the cast.  Tickets for the show are $5 and we ask every child to sell 10 tickets.

About the staff:  Stacey Bailey is the producer of the program. She taught Theatre, dance and film at West Valley High School for over 30 years (and the theatre is now named for her). She now is on the school board for Hemet Unified. Cheri Kehler is the director and choreographer as well as the  current theatre and dance teacher at West Valley High school. Before joining the staff of West Valley she was the owner/operator of the Dancer’s Studio in Hemet. Paul Fults is the musical director for the show. He is an elementary school music teacher for Hemet Unified.   The Ramona Bowl Summer Youth theatre is one of the only youth theatre programs in the Inland Empire that is run by fully credentialed teachers.

Students will not only learn their parts for the show, but also learn theatre techniques such as blocking and characterization, dance moves and steps, and improve their singing.  This program emphasizes not just performance but also education. Also they will have lots of fun and make many new friends.
